Mashle: Magic and Muscles Live-Action Film Adaptation Announced

Hajime Komoto’s Mashle: Magic and Muscles manga is officially getting a live-action film adaptation, with its Japanese theatrical premiere set for March 19, 2027.

A super teaser visual was released alongside the announcement, featuring protagonist Mash Burnedead from behind in his school robe while holding a dumbbell instead of a wand. The actor playing Mash is scheduled to be revealed on November 5.

Warner Bros. Pictures and Fuji Television are overseeing the production, with CREDEUS handling production and Toho distributing the film in Japan. CREDEUS has previously worked on live-action projects including Kingdom, Blue Lock and Kokuho.

Hajime Komoto writes and draws the Mashle manga, which has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since January 2020. VIZ licensed it in English, and you can also read it on MANGA Plus. The platform describes the story as:
This is a world of magic where magic is used for everything. But deep in the forest exists a young man who spends his time training and bulking up. He can’t use magic, but he enjoys a peaceful life with his father. But one day, his life is put in danger! Will his muscular body protect him from the magic users who are out to get him? Powerfully trained muscles crush magic as this abnormal magical fantasy begins!

The first season of Mashle: Magic and Muscles ended in June after running for 12 episodes. The second season also ran for 12 episodes in Winter 2024 and covered the Divine Visionary Selection Exam Arc. The next in the manga is the Tri-Magic-Athalon Divine Visionary Final Exam Arc, which is set to begin in January 2027 with Season 3.
