The Skull Dragon’s Precious Daughter Releases Visual, Trailer and Staff Details

Kadokawa has revealed a visual, a trailer, and production details for the upcoming anime The Skull Dragon’s Precious Daughter (Hone Dragon no Manamusume). Kana Hanazawa and Kazuhiko Inoue will star as Eve and Nemu, the Skull Dragon. Doga Kobo (Asteroid in Love, Oshi no Ko) animates the adaptation. You can view the trailer below.

Both voice actors shared their excitement about the adaptation, with Kana Hanazawa stating:

“Seeing the preciousness of everyday life with someone you care about brought to life in such a heartfelt animation is almost too much—in the best way. As I read the original work, I’ve tried to portray Eve in a way that honors how freely and wholeheartedly she lives. I think it’s turned out beautifully, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it!!!” *

Kazuhiko Inoue said,

“It’s a lovely, gentle series—the kind that soothes you just by watching. I’ve been cast as Nemu, a role that feels like a perfect fit for someone who’s always sleepy, like me. I’m looking forward to bringing out the warm bond that grows between Nemu and Eve, and I’ll give the recording my very best. I hope you’re excited to see it!” *

The Skull Dragon’s Precious Daughter follows the skull dragon, Nemu, and the orphan Eve.

After a long life, Nemu, the dragon, is approaching his final sunset. The old dragon spends his final days sleeping in the Forest of Scraps. But when a five-year-old orphan named Eve finds him, he adopts her, bringing his lonely days to an end. However, after half a decade together, Nemu closes his eyes for the last time. Yet their story doesn’t end. Months after his death, Nemu revives him as a skull dragon! And with life blooming again, Nemu vows to help Eve control her powers before his new existence fades.

As part of the promotion campaign for The Skull Dragon’s Precious Daughter, the show’s production committee is raffling three postcards (by lottery) autographed by Kana Hanazawa and Kazuhiko Inoue. Fans can enter the raffle by following the anime’s X account and retweeting the campaign post. The lottery runs until 11:59 pm on October 22, 2026 (JST).

Ichi Yukishir launched The Skull Dragon’s Precious Daughter on Mag Garden’s Mag Comi manga website in September 2020. After two years of serialization in that magazine, the manga moved to Monthly Comic Garden in January 2022. Monthly Comic Garden serialized the manga until its conclusion in August 2025. Mag Garden compiled the manga into six volumes.

Seven Seas Entertainment released the manga in English in both digital and print editions.
